4 Must Do Activities In Aspen In The Fall
If you're visiting or are a local, get outdoors and enjoy these 4 activities this fall!
1. Hike The American Lake Trail
One of the best and easiest ways to get active this fall is to lace up a pair of hiking boots, grab a water bottle and maybe some Aspen Crunch snacks, and hit one of the many hiking trails Aspen has to offer. This time of year the trees are just turning, and American Lake trail is the perfect place to take it all in. The beginning of the hike switchbacks through a grove of golden aspen trees and is nicely shaded throughout, with stunning views of rolling hills, waterfalls, the Rockies and American Lake as the grand finale. The hike is 6-miles out and back and is rated as difficult, so definitely bring plenty of water. Pups are welcome too, as long as they're on leash! 2. Bike The Rio Grande Trail
If you’re more of a biker, there are tons of trails for that, too. The Rio Grande Trail is perfect for beginners and experts alike. Spanning the entire Roaring Fork Valley, the Rio Grande Trail starts near Clark's Market in Aspen and continues all the way to Glenwood Springs with both paved and dirt sections. With 43.5 miles of scenic pathway in total, you can go for a leisurely ride or get a workout in. We recommend bringing a picnic and stopping halfway for lunch in the crisp fall air!
3. Jog Along The East of Aspen Trail
For a quick workout, head out for a run among the fall foliage - or take a leisurely stroll instead. The East of Aspen trail makes for a fun flat run through lots of aspens shading the way, and this time of year definitely has the most beautiful scenery. There are plenty of other running trails, too, which you can check out here.
4. Camp Out at Weller Campground
Now if you’re not the super active type but still want to get out in nature, spending a weekend camping is the answer. The Weller Campground provides great access to fishing and hiking around beautiful Weller Lake, and the views of the lake and turning trees is simply breathtaking. Temperatures in the fall are nice and brisk, but as soon as the sun goes down in the Rockies, you’ll definitely want to cozy up by the campfire.
If you believe that eating healthy can make a big impact on the way you feel, consider buying yourself an Aspen Crunch snack.
